Scientist, Analytical Development

Primary Responsibility

We are looking for a Scientist to optimize analytical methods and perform analytical testing of T Cells and in-process materials to provide product and process understanding. You will report to our Scientist, Analytical Development, and work closely with T Cell Process Development.

Your primary responsibilities will include design and execution of experiments, and authorship of technical protocols and reports. Additional activities include method optimization and method qualification. This position represents an excellent opportunity for career development, working closely with experienced scientists in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment.

Performance in this role will be monitored through both group performance and individual feedback from managers and peers. The cultural aspects which define the Adaptimmune work philosophy will form a key part of performance assessment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design experiments, assist with data analysis, interpretation and troubleshooting to support method development and routine testing.
  • Perform molecular assay development involving qPCR, ddPCR, associated primer and probe design for the characterization of genetically engineered primary T cells.
  • Perform in-vitro assays involving flow cytometric and functional characterization of genetically engineered primary T cells.
  • Authoring documents such as procedures, research protocols, and reports
  • Compile and analyse scientific data,and present results in meetings.

Required

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • B.S./M.S. degree in biochemistry, cell biology, immunology, or related discipline with at least 4-5 years of experience, preferably in a cell therapy biotech or pharmaceutical setting.
  • Experience in performing molecular assays including qPCR and/or ddPCR assay.
  • Experience in analytical method development, especially understanding in molecular assays for T cell product characterization and release.
  • Experience in performing (and understanding) statistical analyses using designated software.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and identifying root causes when encountering issues during experiments.
  • Experience in making scientific presentations and presenting results to larger teams.
  • Experience in assay optimization and/or process characterization studies using DOE.

Desirable

  • Experience working with viral vectors and primary human T cells is highly desirable.
  • Experience in handling cell cultures, preferably primary mammalian cells.
  • Experience in performing basic cell-based assays such as cell counting and/or flow cytometry.
