School Social Worker, PBIS-MTSS (3 Positions)

QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires knowledge of Ed. Codes; local, regional, and statewide resources; current prevention and intervention programs/ strategies, as well as community agencies; knowledge and understanding of evidence based best practices in school social work to promote behavioral, social, emotional health for academic success and positive school climate; as well as experience with computers, including but not limited to: word processing, power point and databases.

Must possess the ability to provide case management, facilitate groups, and counsel in school setting; maintain accurate records and reports; express oneself effectively in public, in conferences, and in written materials; work harmoniously and effectively with students, parents, community members, and school staff; work with a diverse population; meet schedules and timelines; work independently with little direction; maintain confidentiality and use discretion; demonstrate commitment to the values and ethics of the social work profession and use NASW’s Code of Ethics as a guide to ethical decision making; select and apply empirically validated or promising prevention and intervention methods to enhance students’ educational experiences;

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: Two years of responsible experience in K-12 social work, specifically in a PBIS-MTSS school setting preferred. Clinical Social Worker License preferred or Completion of Master’s Degree of Social and Service Credential – Pupil Personnel or Completion of Master’s Degree of Social Work and enrolled in a Service Credential – Pupil Personnel program with two years experience in a Social Work role in a school setting or Completion of Master’s Degree of Social Work and application for Associate Clinical Social Worker (ASW) with the CA Board of Behavioral Sciences.

MUST POSSESS AND MAINTAIN A VALID CALIFORNIA DRIVER’S LICENSE AND PERSONAL VEHICLE FOR USE ON DISTRICT BUSINESS.

SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL BE REQUIRED TO SUBMIT A COPY OF DRIVING RECORD ISSUED BY THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES.

A PRE-EMPLOYMENT MEDICAL ASSESSMENT AND CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECK WILL BE REQUIRED OF SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT.

DUTIES OF POSITION: Work with the District and for coordination of services within a Multi-Tiered System of Support in Kern High School District; consult and collaborate with school personnel to promote a school environment responsive to the needs of children; provide in-service training services to school staff on positive behavioral interventions, evidence-based interventions, and other best practices. Provide individual, group, and family counseling sessions; coordinate and facilitate parent engagement activities including, but not limited to assistance at Parent Centers; provide psycho-social assessments and diagnosis of behavior; create intervention plans for behavioral support; provide crisis intervention and family consultation services within the context of multicultural understanding and competence that enhance families' support of students' learning experiences; provide training for parents such as Parent Project or other training on parenting and behavior management; provide classroom and student behavior support for teachers including conducting classroom observations of students; identify and develop programs and activities to address situations adversely affecting the personal, socio-emotional, and academic development of the students; work as part of the intervention and/or PBIS team to support school personnel in adopting and organizing evidence-based behavioral interventions into an integrated continuum that enhances academic and social behavior outcomes for all students; support staff in the implementation of teaching-oriented, positive, and preventative strategies to reduce problem behavior; coordinate and facilitate youth development activities; provide task and/or field supervision for School Social Work Interns in the implementation of micro, mezzo, and macro evidence-based practices; maintain records for the purpose of documenting activities and complying with mandated requirements, including but not limited to case management records; maintain confidentiality of information for the purpose of meeting privacy requirements; prepare reports, documents, and other written materials for the purposes of documenting activities, providing written references, and/or conveying information; support and/or participate in school multi-disciplinary teams; conduct home visits as needed; act as a community liaison with social service agencies and community networks; make appropriate referrals to mental health, social services, and other community agencies as needed; assist the school Foster Youth Liaison and/or Community Specialist; make contact with foster youth; monitor school adjustment and progress as needed.

STARTING SALARY: $8,489.41 (monthly)

NUMBER OF MONTHS: 11 (to begin August 1, 2024)

NUMBER OF HOURS: 8 (daily working hours 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.)
