School Registered Nurse (Full-Time, Following School Schedule)

Our clients are Michigan based businesses and schools seeking to increase healthcare accessibility, improve employee experience, and reduce medical costs as well as Michigan school districts seeking quality accessible care for their students and staff, compliance with regulations, and improving the overall health and safety within schools. We are seeking a Registered Nurse to join our team for our school nursing program on a part-time basis in the Waterford, MI area.

You’ll love coming to work every day if you get, want, and have the capacity to:

  • Provide direct healthcare services to students, staff, and visitors in the school setting, including assessing, diagnosing, and treating illnesses or injuries within the nursing scope of practice.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and vaccinations as prescribed.
  • Monitor and manage students with chronic health conditions, creating individualized healthcare plans and implementing necessary accommodations or modifications.
  • Respond effectively and promptly to medical emergencies, following established protocols and initiating necessary actions.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date health records for all students, documenting patient care, medications administered, and any health-related incidents.
  • Assess and promote the overall health and wellness of the school community through health screenings, health promotion programs, and preventative health education.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to develop individualized education programs (IEPs) and 504 plans for students with special healthcare needs.
  • Provide support and training to staff regarding health-related issues, ensuring they are equipped to handle emergencies and promote a healthy environment.
  • Educate students, staff, and parents on topics such as hygiene, nutrition, safety, and disease prevention.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, psychologists, and social workers, to coordinate student care and provide a comprehensive approach to healthcare.
  • Stay current with healthcare practices, policies, and regulations, attending professional development activities to improve knowledge and skills.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient records and adhere to legal and ethical standards of healthcare practice.
  • Attend a quarterly company wide meeting in person (Grand Rapids)

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
  • Valid and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Michigan.
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Registered Nurse, preferably in a pediatric or school setting.
  • Excellent clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of common childhood illnesses, injuries, and chronic health conditions.
  • Familiarity with nursing best practices, infection control procedures, and medication administration protocols.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate flexibility in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems and basic computer skills.
