Position Summary:
The School Psychologist provides comprehensive psychological services to support the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral development of students. This role involves conducting assessments, developing interventions, collaborating with educators and parents, and promoting a positive school climate. The School Psychologist works to ensure that all students have access to the mental health support necessary to succeed in school and life.
Key Responsibilities:
Assessment and Evaluation:
Conduct psycho-educational assessments to identify students' strengths and needs.
Utilize a variety of assessment tools and techniques to evaluate cognitive, academic, social, emotional, and behavioral functioning.
Interpret assessment results and generate comprehensive reports with recommendations for interventions and services.
Intervention and Support:
Develop and implement individualized interventions to address students' academic, social, emotional, and behavioral issues.
Provide direct support and counseling services to students individually and in groups.
Collaborate with teachers and other staff to design and implement classroom-based interventions and supports.
Consultation and Collaboration:
Consult with teachers, administrators, and parents to develop strategies for addressing students' needs.
Participate in multidisciplinary teams, including IEP meetings and student support teams.
Serve as a resource to staff on issues related to mental health, learning disabilities, and behavioral challenges.
Crisis Intervention:
Provide crisis intervention and support for students experiencing acute emotional distress.
Develop and implement crisis response plans and procedures.
Train staff and students on crisis prevention and intervention strategies.
Data Analysis and Program Development:
Analyze data related to student performance and behavioral trends to inform school-wide practices and interventions.
Contribute to the development and implementation of school-wide programs aimed at improving student outcomes.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and programs.
Professional Development:
Stay current with best practices, research, and developments in the field of school psychology.
Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities, including workshops, training sessions, and conferences.
Provide training and professional development to school staff on topics related to mental health, behavior management, and instructional strategies.
Qualifications:
Education:
Specialist-level degree (Ed.S.) or doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in School Psychology or a related field.
Certification:
Valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) School Psychologist License or School Social Worker.
Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) credential preferred.
Experience:
Experience working in a school setting preferred.
Experience with diverse populations and a range of psychological and behavioral issues.
