OVERVIEW The School Principal will oversee the majority of the academic programs at this school in Guatemala for Pre-K through 12th grade. This is an English-language immersion school in Guatemala founded to help international children meet their educational needs with a United States curriculum. Enrollment is 200+ pre-kindergarten through 12th-grade students, consisting largely of local Guatemalan ESL students. Students graduate with a United States-style high school diploma, validated through dual accreditation and a Guatemalan diploma in science and letters emphasizing computer technology. The Republic of Guatemala recognizes this school as part of a non-profit institution. It is recognized as a 501(c)(3) organization in the United States. IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE Be a devoted follower of Christ, with an authentic and enthusiastic faith and an ecumenical attitude toward other Christians. The ability to lead by example and through best practices in areas of spiritual development, professional development, and educational policy development. An ability to command the respect of all the school’s constituencies, especially the students and their parents, the teachers, and staff. Exhibits and practices a professional level of organizational skills, planning, goal setting, assessment, and overall leadership. Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent), or higher, in a related field. Preferably, the School Principal will demonstrate or have the willingness to acquire: Spanish language proficiency. Experience living cross-culturally. Knowledge of ACSI accreditation protocols. JOB DESCRIPTION Provide instructional leadership and support to teaching staff. Ensure instruction aligns with the Board-approved curriculum and standards. Coordinate school standards and expectations for teachers. Review teacher lesson plans and assessments. Conduct classroom observations to evaluate instruction and effectiveness. Promote student learning and achievement of education standards. Implement and coordinate standardized testing (SAT/PSAT/AP). Supervise counseling and college guidance services. Coordinate testing for prospective students. Oversee school-wide writing and spiritual assessments. Maintain and manage academic records. Train staff in the student management system. Maintain order and discipline in school and activities. Assist with student discipline and extra-curricular activities. Attend and participate in chapel. Promote the school’s beliefs, values, and mission. Assist with staff orientation and professional development. Prepare schedules for teachers and students. Assist in evaluating new curriculum and resources. Perform duties assigned by the Director and cover in their absence.
