Job Description
Utilizing leadership, advocacy and collaboration the K-12 Counselor promotes student success by providing preventive services and responding to identified needs through implementation of a comprehensive school counseling program that helps guide all learners in their academic success, personal and social development, and career and college planning.

Delivers individual and group counseling curriculum supporting student development
Analyzes student data and develops data-driven programs for intervention action plans
Provides responsive services to individuals or groups on academic and personal issues
Provides an individual planning system to guide students toward post-secondary goals
Assists students in the acquisition of study skills, academic opportunities, and benefits
Provides a support system that strengthens the efforts of teachers, staff, and parents
Supports standardized testing program; parent education; and staff development
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.

Minimum Requirements
Master’s Degree AND Georgia Certificate in School Counseling
Passionate about student engagement and success
Strong work ethic and self-motivation
Ability to travel 20% of the time as required
Ability to adapt to a changing environment
Consistent access to reliable high-speed internet
Certificates and Licenses
GA PSC School Counseling License/Certificate
Clear Fingerprint/Background Check Required
Clearance Certificate issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission required.
Other Requirements
Experience with student success coaching
An ability to support and guide students as well as adults
Experience working with the proposed age group and their families
Experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology
Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, OneNote, and G-Suite.
Experience using search engines (internet) for research projects
Ability to read and interpret student academic data and educational reports
Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms
Ability to manage competing priorities with attention to deadlines
Strong critical thinking, planning, and writing skills
Ability to work independently as well as collaborate and communicate effectively within a team
Ability to manage multiple projects within established deadlines
Dependable, able to work under pressure and meet deadlines as required
Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy
Excellent organizational skills, including ability to incorporate methods and build systems that can be used across the district
Excellent presentation and public speaking skills

Maintain a professional home office without distraction during 8-5 workday when working from home
Valid driver’s license and availability of private transportation
Desired Qualifications
Three (3) years of experience in school counseling, social work, advising, teaching, or related fields
Proven experience in effecting positive change in an educational setting
Experience working with diverse student populations
TKES/LKES credentialed
Previous experience as an online educator or academic administrator
Knowledge of the SCSC Comprehensive Performance Framework
Knowledge of GaDOE CCRPI
Previous experience with online educational tools/curriculum/assessments
Working knowledge of Naviance
Working knowledge of Infinite Campus (SIS)
Working knowledge of Canvas (LMS)
Working knowledge of Jigsaw Interactive (live classroom tool)
Proficient in use of Zoom conferencing tool
Bi-lingual

Work Schedule: This is a Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 4 PM, 5 Days/Week, Primarily Remote Position.
In-Person Attendance: In-person attendance at professional development, training, conferences, job fairs, meetings, school events, marketing events, and/or testing sites will be required several times per year.
Vision: (which may be corrected) to read small print; view a computer screen for prolonged periods.
Hearing: (which may be corrected) to answer telephones and tolerate exposure to noisy conditions.
Speech: to be understood in face-to-face or virtual communications; to speak with a level of proficiency and volume to be understood over a telephone and/or computer.
Upper Body Mobility: use hands and fingers to feel, grasp, and manipulate small objects; manipulate fingers, twist and bend at wrist and elbow; extend arms to reach outward and upward; use hands and arms to lift objects; turn, raise, and lower head.
Strength: to lift, push, pull and/or carry objects which weigh as much as 5 or more pounds on a frequent basis.
Environmental Requirements: encounter constant work interruptions; work cooperatively with others; work independently; work indoors.
