SBA Underwriter

Seeking an experienced SBA Underwriter located in Houston, TX or Los Angeles, CA. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in SBA loan underwriting and a strong understanding of SBA Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). Must have experience working files involving gas stations, hotels, restaurants etc. Operational experience within a financial institution is a significant plus. This role demands a high level of attention to detail, exceptional analytical skills, and a thorough understanding of risk assessment and management. Experience as a closer is also a plus. Key Responsibilities:

• Loan Underwriting:
• Evaluate and analyze SBA loan applications to determine creditworthiness and compliance with SBA guidelines.
• Conduct thorough financial analyses, including cash flow, balance sheet, and income statement reviews.
• Assess the viability of business models and collateral adequacy.
• Prepare detailed credit memos with well-supported recommendations.
• Compliance and Documentation:
• Ensure all loan applications and supporting documents comply with SBA SOP and internal policies.
• Maintain accurate and complete loan files, including all required documentation and approvals.
• Stay current with changes in SBA regulations and guidelines.
• Risk Management:
• Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with loan applications.
• Perform due diligence to ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial information provided.
• Collaborate with internal teams to address and resolve any credit issues or discrepancies.
• Client Interaction:
• Communicate with loan applicants to gather additional information and clarify financial data.
• Provide guidance and support to applicants throughout the loan process.
• Deliver excellent customer service by addressing client inquiries and concerns promptly.
