GENERAL SUMMARY

The Sales Director oversees all HM sales activities in North America region. This position is responsible for business development including the new customers (D3 for globally) and new products market development in north America region. This individual will work with HM global cross functional teams closely for sales forecasting and develop the mid-term business acquisition plan. Sales director is also responsible to coordinates with internal teams to prepare the cost estimate and get global approval for customer RFQ reply. Functions as the director of a department and typically supervises management personnel and indirectly supervises subordinate staff under this job’s line of authority.


ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Develop strong customer relationships with key contacts at target customers. Provide input as the customer representative and commercial lead in all meetings related to accounts/products including those scheduled after normal business hours.


  • Existing customer interface (management and staff level) regarding new business opportunities, design change impact negotiation, and on-going business commercial issues (i.e. cost reduction requirements, A/R issues, etc.)


  • Lead all commercial activities related to and new business opportunities. Including but not limited to: acquiring RFQ’s, leading RFQ quote preparation, functioning as the project manager of the RFQ process. Ensuring the cross functional team provides cost details & confirmation of feasibility, preparing material summarizing the offer and presenting to internal management teams for approval, submitting complete quotations within the due date, leading quote follow-up activity, price negotiation, summarizing regular RFQ progress with all internal stakeholders.


  • Develop mid-term and long-term sales plan for the assigned accounts, coordinate with internal global teams to identify the value proposition of the product. Provide customer voice from regional customer to the HQ team to improve the value proposition in the region.


  • Communicates between customers and internal departments including engineering, sales, cost planners, manufacturing, quality, purchasing and other team members to effectively stay informed of the company activities and communicate any relevant customer concerns or feedback to the team and create a cohesive VOC feedback process.


  • Negotiate with the customer as needed to resolve any open financial issues. Manage other areas of the account such as payments or follow-up on past due receivables.


  • Respond to internal information requests related to account such as forecasts of customer demand for products and other market forecasts as the subject matter expert. Regularly as directed, provide financial status of accounts, pricing, tooling, etc. to upper management.


  • Business Plan (Activity Plan) establishment and execution.


  • Management of Sales Department Expenditures.


  • Must follow all company requirements regarding Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies and procedures.


  • Performs other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work performed in a general office environment, occasionally present in manufacturing environment is needed.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

The incumbent must:


-Have a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and generally eight or more years of experience in a related field including several years in management capacity

-or-

-Have master’s degree and generally six or more years of experience in a related field, MBA is a plus. Person is fully experienced professional / expert in areas of responsibility.


-Have very strong communication skills, both verbal and written


-Have strong administrative and organizational skills, and possess the ability to coordinate multiple projects and programs


-Be able to pass all background checks and pre-employment tests, including any required drug test


-Be able to maintain the confidentiality of any information s/he encounters.

SPECIALIZED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

Strong presentation skills and analytical ability to perform strategy thinking, project management skill. Working with computer applications such as MS office software.
