Overview

Herzog Contracting Corp. is currently seeking a Safety Manager throughout the United States to join our team.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position.
  • Coordinate all aspects of the project Safety & Health program.
  • Establish procedures and guidelines for the Safety & Health Program and keep updated.
  • Develop safety recommendations for specific operations.
  • Study and provide current information on government regulations for Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA), Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and keep Management and Supervisors advised of revisions of new regulations applicable to company activities.
  • Conduct safety inspections of the jobsite, public areas, adjacent thereto, take necessary and timely corrective actions to eliminate unsafe acts or conditions.
  • Establish and implement a safety-training program for supervisors and employees as applicable to their specific jobs and assist in Daily Safety Meetings and Job Hazard Analysis development.
  • Conduct Training to ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and Local regulations along with company safety policies. Collect and review reports required for records and evaluations of performance of Safety and Accident Prevention Programs.
  • Complete and review Incident, Injury reports as required to assure timely submission and to initiate corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Conduct accident investigations and preparation of required forms for timely submission.
  • Insure all employees receive medical treatment for all injuries.
  • Ensure that all sub-contractors employees comply with jobsite safety rules and regulations.
  • Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.
  • Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or GED Required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of Heavy Civil Construction safety management experience
  • Railroad and or Light Rail Construction safety management experience is a plus but not required.
  • Bilingual is a plus but not required.

Pre-Employment Requirements

  • Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
  • Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position.
  • Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described below must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions of this role. This position will be physically demanding at times. This is a non-exhaustive overview of the physical requirements for this position.

  • Able to walk on uneven surfaces
  • Occasionally ascend/descend step ladders and/or stairs
  • Regularly sit and stand for an extended period of time.
  • Regularly kneel, bend, and squat
  • Able to visually distinguish colors - red, blue, green, yellow; hear and distinguish auditory signals.
  • Able to work in conditions with loud noise; work on/around heavy/moving machinery.
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet).
  • Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position.
  • Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals as required by the position.
