The primary responsibility of the HSE Coordinator is to ensure all employees are provided a safe work environment and perform their duties in accordance with company safety policies, industry safety regulations and best practices. The HSE Coordinator will be a driving force in our company’s continuous improvement process and oversee all employee safety-related training and promote a behavior-based safety culture.
Essential Functions:
Learn to lead the company’s fabrication division HSE department and oversee all safety duties and requirements
Document and maintain safety performance standards to include, but not limited to: Incident investigations, accident investigations, first aid reporting, TRIR, OSHA statistics, training certificates, and EHS documentation.
Assist with maintaining all internal required documentation and external documentation as it relates to OSHA and other agencies’ annual reporting procedures.
Assist with monitoring all regulatory agencies including OSHA, ASME, ANSI, and others for any updates to standards. Help manager with compliance of facilities and personnel
Assist in the development of safety procedures, programs, and training
Respond to all on-site incidents, emergencies, and accidents. Oversee and assist in the response and correction of all safety events such as injuries, illnesses, fatalities, and regulatory issues. Assists HR in the Return to Work (RTW) process with follow-up, and internal reporting
Conduct regular incident, accident, injury, and root cause analyses to determine areas in need of improvement and advanced training.
Ensure all outside vendors and subcontractors have complied with company HSE programs.
Assist all safety enforcement, disciplinary and corrective actions
Help support management of environmental programs including annual scheduled third-party audits and site reviews as they pertain to environmental regulations
Work in conjunction with Operations, Human Resources, and Senior Management to lead and insure the successful completion of all programs and audits
Maintain and promote the companies’ Safety Star award program
Maintain and oversee all safety related LMS programs. Ensure employees receive the necessary safety training required
Possess a strong working knowledge of the Corporate Safety Manual. Work in conjunction with Field EHS and Senior Management on all updates and revisions as necessary to remain compliant.
Ensure all OTR vehicles are compliant with DOT and other regulatory agencies
Conduct regular safety and risk assessment inspections and report findings to Senior Management
Perform other assigned duties as necessary
Qualifications and Certifications:
High School diploma required
BS in Safety preferred
Certifications: (OSHA 30, 510/511) or able to obtain within one year
Minimum 0 to 1 years’ experience in an HSE position, this is an entry level safety position
Passion for safety in an industrial and steel fabrication work environment
Advanced use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to communicate equally well with upper management and line workers
Team-oriented, proactive, able to work independently
Reports directly to Recruiting and Development/EHS Manager.
