Assistant Camp Directors are responsible for the management and supervision of a comprehensive summer camp program serving children between the ages of 5-12. This includes the planning, marketing and promotion, scheduling, execution and evaluation of the 8 week camp sessions offered at the Robert Crown Community Center. As a member of the Robert Crown Summer Staff, you are expected to work in cooperation with ALL camp and building staff.

Communicate any concerns or issues directly to the Camp Director
Assist Camp Director in recruiting, hiring, training, supervising summer camp counselors
Assist Camp Director in planning, organizing, executing and evaluating the formal training program for summer camp counselors
Get to know and work cooperatively with camp and building staff
Complete all schedules necessary for a seamless camp flow
Obtain appropriate and necessary equipment for camp activities
Essential Functions:
Follow Camp Handbook guidelines
Ensure the safety of all camp participants including summer staff
Provide the highest level of customer service to parents, staff and children enrolled in our camps and the general public within the building
Enforce building and camp policies
Participate in daily activities with the counselors and campers
Recognize and respond effectively to emergencies
Directly supervise and support counselors and children within specified camps
Manage announcements daily for parents, campers and staff
Strong customer service and teamwork orientation
Ability to give verbal direction to reporting staff, communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors.
Perform other related work as assigned by Coordinator or Director
Qualifications:
Minimum age of 18 yrs. Old
High School Diploma or equivalent and Some College
Strong interest, maturity and judgment in working with children in an outdoor setting
Minimum of 3 years of knowledge and experience in a camp setting
Possess the ability to work as a team member with other counselors and senior staff members
Responsible, friendly, enthusiastic, patient and willing to learn
Must be able and willing to obtain First Aid/CPR certification
Must possess a valid driver’s license
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work primarily indoors and is occasionally subject to outdoor environmental conditions – no effective protection from the weather conditions or temperature changes.
The employee performs tasks outdoors related to recreational programs, weather can be hot in the summer, etc.
Employee should have the ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly, in addition to the ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Have the ability to lift, reach handle, finger, kneel, bend, stand for long periods of time, talk, hear, feel, smell, climb, maintain balance, stoop, crouch, crawl, and see the nature of the object by the eye.

Starting at $17.75 hour
Schedule
This is a full-time, seasonal summer position. Schedule includes nine consecutive weeks during the summer. Typical working hours are 8:45am-5:15pm at camp location.
