Summary Of Position

The RN Supervisor at Allen Morgan Health Care is responisible for the assessment, establishment and promotions of the care environment for the purpose of improving and maintaining healthy resident outcomes. Providing professional nursing care according to ANA Standards of Nursing Practice in conformance with recognized nursing techniques and procedures, established standards and administrative policies. There is a weekend shift differential.

Weekend for Sat-Sun, 12 hour shifts for parttime OR Friday/Saturday/Sunday 12 hour shifts for fulltime.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervise nurses and ancillary nursing staff effectively;
  • Perform daily rounds to assess staff performance;
  • Check crash carts on all floors and emergency kits weekly and restock as necessary;
  • Possess awareness of Code of Conduct and Disciplinary Action Guidelines in order to govern employee conduct;
  • Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to promote quality resident care and assume responsibility for the care given under their direct supervison;
  • Demonstrate knowledge, communication skills and values needed for effective teamwork;
  • Maintain ethical standards;
  • Maintain adequate staff with in-house employees, using supplemental staff only in emergency;
  • Plan appropriate nursing interventions;
  • Chart significant and meaningful observations of the residents reflecting nursing process in the delivery of nursing care;
  • Assess and identify resident problems, symptoms and behavioral cahnges;
  • Organize nursing care and daily routine efficiently for assigned unit;
  • Confer with physicians and other healthcare professionals as needed to promote quality residnet care;
  • Must show understanding, patience and tact in dealing with residents and their families;
  • Apply effective communication skills;
  • Maintain attendance in accordance to the Employee Handbook;
  • Should always demonstrat diplomacy and caring skills when communicating with others;
  • Resond to request for nursing help in the Independant Living or Assisted Living as needed, especially in an emergency;

Scope Of Authority/Reporting

This position reports to the Director of Nursing and/or designee.

The RN Supervisor will manke any necessary decisions.

  • Physical Skills - meet requirements outlined specifically as listed per physical activity, visual demands, physical surroundings, and hazards applicable to this position.

  • Must possess and exhibit a strong positive attitude toward customer service and have a genuine interest in geriatric care and uphold the philosophy of the community.
  • Ability to communicate directions and goals clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to make independent decisions when the circumstances warrant such actions.

Mental & Physical Requirements

  • Must be in good physical and mental health.
  • Requires ability to stand and walk short and long distances for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lifting and/or carrying objects in excess of 30 pounds.
  • Requires reaching above, below and at shoulder level.

Job’s Normal Work Environment

  • Works in a clean environment, well lighted and well-ventilated commons building, laundry facilities, wellness facilities and residential units.
  • Work environment involves slight physical risks or hazardous conditions and exposure to communicable diseases, which require following basic safety precautions (wearing lab coats, rubber gloves, and so on).

To the extent that the employee complies with precautionary measures, this risk is reduced.

License

  • Maintain a State of TN or multi - state license as a Registered Nurse.
  • Must possess and maintain a current CPR certification.
