The Rigging Journeyman is responsible for the safety, and coordination of the activities of assigned personnel and provides direction, guidance and oversees work assignments and performance of all personnel involved in the rigging evaluation.
Essential Functions / Duties
Organizes, and directs Helpers to complete projects within established guidelines and time frames.
Ensure all safety regulations are being adhered to and completes JSA’s.
Monitors employees work levels and reports findings to Supervisor.
Performs related work as required.
Must adhere to and promote ALL company safety policies. Wear all required PPE when in Production areas and promote a clean and safe work environment.
Ensure that employees assigned with Firewatch duties are in place and ready prior to begin hot work

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The Rigging Journeyman must be able to meet and successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The following physical demands are representative to the position.
Required
The position is active and requires extensive standing, walking, sitting, bending, kneeling, stooping, crawling, climbing, and crouching. Along with such movements, employee is required to lift parts/machinery of up to 50 pounds. Additional demands are listed below:
Able to climb ladders and work off scaffolding and at heights
Able to lift, carry, and or push up to 50 lbs. throughout the shift (including overtime)

Knowledge / Skills
High school education or equivalent.
Minimum 7 years related work experience.
Knowledge of rigging tools including their use, repair and maintenance.
Knowledgeable in shipyard and marine practices, quality assurance and contractual responsibilities.
Must have sound understanding of all trade responsibilities.
Skill using various hand tools.
Skill in determining proper sequence of planning, scheduling and production flow.
Proficient knowledge in equipment testing and blueprint reading
Skill as working as a team leader to include understanding of proper route planning for the equipment they are directed to move.
Effective problem solving along with strong oral and written communication skills.
Sound interpersonal skills needed to interface with company personnel and customers.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILTY: Rigging Journeyman position may be responsible for up to 6 employees assigned under them.
POSITION TYPE / HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week. Schedule is Monday- Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. / 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. (swing shifts dependent on workload). Occasional overtime and weekend work may be required based on production needs.
Required Education And Experience
Must have a minimum of 7 years of ship repair experience and qualifications.
Must be able to speak and understand Basic English
WORK AUTHORIZATION CLEARANCE
For E-verify and contract security purposes (including ship access lists), all employees MUST present a valid export document. Acceptable documents are U.S. Birth Certificate, Certificate of Naturalization, Passport, Passport Card and Permanent Resident Card.
