Position Overview
As a Reverse Mortgage Underwriter, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of residential loan underwriting processes. Collaborating closely with Loan Originators, Branch Managers, and Processors, you will verify loan documentation while adhering to company guidelines and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Evaluate loan applications and associated documentation in alignment with HECM guidelines and company policies.
Maintain efficient turnaround times for initial decisions and condition reviews.
Engage with Quality Control, Compliance, and Funding teams to resolve issues and ensure adherence to risk and compliance standards.
Develop and uphold expertise in HECM product guidelines and risk assessment tools.
Adjust loan terms and identify additional conditions when necessary to support credit decisions.
Analyze borrower profiles including income documentation, credit reports, appraisals, and other pertinent data.
Demonstrate proficiency in manual underwriting policies and procedures.
Stay informed about secondary market trends and their impact on underwriting and origination activities.
Foster positive relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.
Utilize MS Office products effectively to support underwriting activities.
Required Experience
Minimum 3 years of experience in Residential Loan underwriting.
DE certification and recent FHA underwriting experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of FHA/HECM policies and procedures.
Familiarity with fraud detection tools.
Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Proven track record of managing relationships effectively.
Previous mortgage processing experience is advantageous.
Experience with repurchase response and/or rebuttal review is a plus.
Proficiency in reporting, analysis, and critical thinking.
Additional Information
This is a primarily remote position. Candidates must have access to a quiet home workspace and reliable internet.
Occasional local travel may be required for company meetings, programs, or events.
