Retail Buyer
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Buy and develop product assortment and merchandise point of view, ensuring that the collection is compelling, commercially viable, and supports overall business objectives.
- In collaboration with planning, drive seasonal strategies and financial plans; make monthly financial projections.
- Ensure the success of the division by meeting sales, gross margin, and inventory goals.
- Review and analyze financial data, ensuring accuracy for strategic decisions.
- Analyze class and vendor performance, identifying product opportunities, trends, and offerings that will impact the business and provide results.
- Optimize buying by store in order to maximize opportunities by market and follow up with appropriate allocation.
- Assist in the development of associate and/or assistant buyers as well as merchandise assistants.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma is required; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Must have strong retail math skills.
- Strong analytical, financial, and strategic planning skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks while multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong presentation, listening, written, and oral communication skills.
- Proven track record of achieving results and exceeding expectations, with examples to substantiate.
- High level of business acumen and demonstrated problem-solving skills.
- Strategic thought, leadership, cross-functional team collaboration, and influence.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and computer skills.
- 5+ years of buying experience are required, preferably in a luxury retail environment.
Working Conditions:
- Prolonged periods of sitting required the use of hands and fingers to handle or feel.
- Employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Physical requirements of the position/light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
- Employee is required to talk and hear.
- Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
