Who You Are – Residential Loan Origination Assistant

You are a dynamic, detail oriented, intuitive person with the ability to develop relationships, build rapport and become a trusted team member. What You'll Do

  • Assist the loan officers with Incomplete Reports. Works with processors in determining missing documentation, issuing required Incomplete disclosure notices and tracking the file through the process to meet regulatory timing requirements.
  • Interfaces with Branch Mortgage Officer to assist in daily mortgage operations regarding rates, applications, pre-qualifications, member questions, scheduled activities etc.
  • To help increase ‘pull through’ ratios, tracks disclosures issued to borrowers that have not responded. Assist loan officers in follow up for those disclosures not signed/returned. Work with borrowers to answer any related questions.
  • Works with loan officer and provides timely follow up with pre-approvals to maintain contact throughout the buying process.
  • On a timely basis, responds to member e-mail and telephone inquiries requesting information on products, services, and problem resolution
  • Works with the processing staff and pipeline reports to assist loan officers in ensuring member is being updated on mortgage status and any required changes.
  • Tracking and performing follow up on rate locks, relocks and cancellations with SMR to ensure 2ndary rate locks have been sent and received. QC the SMR confirmations to ensure rate information has been locked correctly.
  • Supports loan officer efforts with Business Development to generate new mortgage business through promotional activities and expand new mortgage customer relationships.
  • Assists loan officers with modification request, including file setup, member contact and interface with Mortgage Servicing.
  • Interface with Third party originators to receive files and track loan files.
  • Assist in training branches on mortgage information including Mortgagebot training.
  • Represents the credit union in a professional manner; provides quality service to members and internal customers.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Knowledge/Skills/Experience Required

  • 1-2 years mortgage lending or comparable consumer loan support experience preferable.
  • A high school degree or equivalent
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to effectively communicate information over the telephone and in person to applicants and employees.
  • Working knowledge of all state and federal mortgage regulations preferable.
  • Strong organizational, analytical and customer service skills.

Physical Demands/Conditions Required

  • Is able to bend, sit, and stand in order to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs.
  • Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation.
  • Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary.
  • Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management.
  • Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.
  • Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.

  • Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators.
