JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the Research Technician 2 works in the Department of Pharmacology, Addition Science and Toxicology at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. This position performs critical tasks and experiments necessary to achieve the goals of research on the neurobiology of alcohol use disorder (AUD) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Duties And Responsibilities
Conducts research into the neurobiology underlying alcohol use disorder (AUD) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Performs electrophysiology, molecular biology, and behavioral pharmacology experiments under supervision of the PI.
Performs analysis of the generated data under the direction of the PI.
Maintains rat colonies.
Maintains laboratory supply inventory and lab equipment.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree Neuroscience or other equivalent biological science. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
EXPERIENCE: OR a combination of college coursework and work experience to equal eight (8) years.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Excellent organization, communication, and time management skills.
Ability to follow directions on experimental protocols and techniques from the PI.
Knowledge of and familiarity with basic statistical methods and programming.
Knowledge of electrophysiology, genetics, molecular biology, and/or behavioral pharmacology.
Ability to accomplish goals.
WORK SCHEDULE : This position may occasionally be required to work weekends and evenings.
