Duties
- Developing and applying innovative large-scale, geomorphic assessment techniques and analyses on regional and project-specific coastal systems
- Experience and/or willingness to cross interdisciplinary specialties in the areas of coastal and riverine sediment processes, statistics, programming and working with large spatio-temporal datasets, programming and technical writing
- Using specialized knowledge and skills, works with members of the Coastal Engineering Branch to develop and conduct research on coastal sediment transport, hydrodynamics and beneficial use of dredged material assessment
- Ability to convey results concisely to federal and local sponsors through written reports and oral communication
- Interacting with Program Managers, Technical Directors and sponsor organizations to determine existing and future potential coastal engineering and navigation research needs
- Perform technology transfer of information and developed tools to sponsors and customers at stakeholder meetings, peers and colleagues at workshops, training courses, and national and international conferences

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a two-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
