Research Molecular Biologist (Research Associate/ Postdoc)

The Beltsville Human Nutrition Research Center, Northeast Area, Diet, Genomics and Immunology Laboratory in Beltsville, Maryland is seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Associate for a two-year appointment. The incumbent will assist in the analysis of the composition of different Kernza cultivars and apply a systems biology approach to correlate differences in Kernza nutritional composition with changes to the microbiome, metabolome, gene expression, and host glucose metabolism in mouse feeding studies. The incumbent will use next-generation sequencing to obtain host and bacterial transcriptomic and metagenomic data along with plasma and cecal metabolome data. The incumbent will assist in the analysis of different Kernza and wheat cultivars for nutrients, soluble and insoluble fibers, resistant starch and secondary metabolite composition. This work will require working with laboratory mice. A recent Ph.D. in nutrition, molecular biology or closely related field is required, no longer than 4 years post-degree. Experience with the methodology required for analysis of transcriptomics and metagenomics from various sources is desirable. Experience working with laboratory mice is required.
