About the Role

This is a hybrid position with the flexibility to work remotely located in either the New York City or Philadelphia area. We want our associates to have the flexibility they need, but also have access to the connectivity to their co-workers and office time.

The Research Associate ("RA") will serve as a senior member of the firm's Research Department. The RA will spend their time collaborating with team members on active Executive Search assignments, leading the strategic identification of candidates across numerous projects at a time. The work produced by the RA directly influences the C-suites of the organizations Raines serves. Research Associates have a tremendous impact on Raines and its clients, as they are tasked with unearthing the eventual leaders of the world's most innovative companies.

This role provides the opportunity to impact the wider firm in a variety of ways, as Research Associates explore their own interests and abilities in order to leverage their skills into applicable business functions and initiatives that add value. While Raines promotes eventual industry and functional specialization, the company offers Research Associates opportunities for exposure to a variety of sectors to explore and develop their skills working across a diverse field of clients and candidates. While the most traditional path from this role is into recruitment, there are additional paths forward into operational, managerial, and analytical roles at the firm.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Define and execute research strategy for high-priority/C-level client engagements: identifying target companies and top-tier, diverse candidates; locating relevant executives from previous searches; and communicating market insights and perspectives on talent pool to team members and clients;
  • Contribute to search kick-off by designing position descriptions according to client specifications;
  • Spearhead business development efforts by conducting market research, generating reports on industry trends, and compiling key information on target companies and competitors;
  • Stay up to date on news in relevant industries such as M&A activity, leadership changes, new government policies, and technological developments that may open business development opportunities or lead to executives seeking new opportunities;
  • Collaborate with team members working across industries, functions, and geographies to share knowledge and compound the power of relationships to provide the firm a unique competitive advantage;
  • Interview and collaborate with prominent executives outside the company to produce original content for Raines' thought leadership;
  • Help maintain the firm's position on the cutting edge in the talent advisory space, continuously evaluating opportunities for the company to expand its services and seeking creative ways to add value beyond search execution;
  • Upon building a foundation of excellence as a Researcher, begin to engage with executives in the market as part of your development into becoming a full-fledged executive recruiter.

Professional Experiences and Qualities

The ideal Research Associate candidate will possess a minimum of 0-2 years of experience and the ideal Sr. Research Associate candidate will possess a minimum of 2-4 years of experience at a top-tier executive search, management consulting, expert network, or other research-oriented firm. The Research team is open to both experience levels at this time.

The successful Raines Research Associate will be a hungry individual eager to accelerate their career by taking on large responsibility from an early tenure within our fast-growing company. This individual must be motivated, confident, and intellectually curious, and have the desire to be a part a world-class operation.

The ideal candidate should also possess, at minimum, the following qualifications and attributes:

  • Successful track record of bringing searches to completion through leading the end-to-end research process, identifying and advocating for top prospects;
  • Capable of upholding research excellence and following an efficient process on numerous projects at a time in a high-speed environment;
  • History of utilizing of a variety of technology tools, including a CRM, to aid in candidate identification, broad market research, and other search-related activities;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present to internal and external parties; excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence others;
  • Operate as a team player, making decisions based around client needs;
  • Strategic outlook – be a natural problem solver with strong analytical abilities;
  • Intellectual curiosity – an interest in or passion for business, and the constant desire to learn more;
  • Drive – an inner motivation to make an impact and to provide innovative thoughts and opinions beyond level of training;
  • Possess Raines' core values: collaborative, energetic, engaging, gritty, hungry, generous, agile, upbeat, fast-moving, and never settling for anything but the best;
  • Knowledge or expertise of talent pool and industry-leading companies in one or more sectors is desirable, but not required.

Education

A Bachelor's degree with strong academic credentials is required.
