Research Assistant - Lead Discovery

My client is seeking a highly motivated temporary employee to support small molecule lead discovery efforts. This individual will focus on culturing a variety of adherent and suspension cells to support our cellular assays. The Research Assistant will maintain the liquid N2 inventory of cells, thaw cells and expand to enable delivery for assays, characterize the growth of cells and ensure proper cell culture conditions for each cell line.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Routine mammalian cell culture and cell line maintenance.
  • Perform mycoplasma test, expanding and banking suspension and adherent cell lines.
  • Maintenance of the liquid N2 tanks, managing cell and tissue inventory using freezer works.
  • Delivery of cells to assay scientists to enable robust consistent cellular assays.
  • Conduct drug screening assays with some cellular assay development may occur in collaboration with the supervisor.
  • Purchase cell culture reagents, routine cleaning of incubators, and CO2 calibration
  • Maintain accurate and well-organized laboratory records and notebooks.


Qualifications/Skills:

  • Sterile tissue culture techniques using both adherent and suspension cells are required.
  • Scientific curiosity and a willingness to take direction are required.
  • Ability to work in an interdisciplinary, dynamic work environment with tight timelines is required.


Education / Experience

  • HS diploma plus 4-5 years relevant experience or B.S. Biology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related field with 0-2 years of relevant experience is required.
