We are looking for a highly motivated research assistant to join our interdisciplinary team at the Network Science Institute, also affiliated with the Political Science and Psychology departments. This role will be involved in all aspects of our innovative misinformation studies. In particular, the research assistant will assist in programming experiments, creating stimuli, data collection (for example recruiting participants online), assisting with human subjects’ applications, data analysis, literature reviews, and helping with manuscripts (e.g. literature reviews). There will be opportunities to present work at conferences. This position will be based at Northeastern University on the Boston campus. We are looking for someone who can start in June or July 2024 for a one-year position, with the possibility of a second year.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Help with manuscripts (e.g. literature reviews): read the existing literature in the field, help to write introductions, methods sections, results sections, discussions sections, or comment on existing manuscripts.
  • Develop recruitment protocols and recruit and schedule study participants. Correspond with study participants and answer questions throughout study.
  • Coordinate and perform data collection, management, and analysis. Program experiments. Create stimuli by collecting and designing “myths and facts”.
  • Other duties and projects as requested such as assist with human subjects’ applications.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology or related field (e.g. computer science, political science) and interest in making a career in research required.
  • Previous research or project coordination experience preferred.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Able to work well both independently on a self-directed basis and in a team.
  • Strong quantitative skills.
