Research Assistant
About the project:
We aim to radically enhance longevity by developing new gene therapy vectors that enable the complex molecular engineering required to make cells and organs that hold up robustly to time and damage. Our flagship technology to do this is the Human Artificial Chromosome (HAC), a synthetic biology project aimed at creating multifunctional vectors capable of large-scale, multifactorial transgenesis, analogous to Yeast and Bacterial Artificial Chromosomes.
Position summary:
We’re seeking a Bachelor/Master graduate with experience in molecular and cellular biology. Together with talented specialists from our team, you will be responsible for the support of ongoing experiments -- constructing and delivering HACs into human cells, as well as designing and testing the first prototypes of mouse artificial chromosomes.

Tasks
A successful candidate shall:
- Perform a variety of laboratory experiments following SOPs, protocols, and verbal instructions from supervisors
- Assist in more complex laboratory tasks and project progress
- Record results, organize data, and perform necessary data analysis
- Prepare research reports and archive research documents
- Work flexibly in a fast-paced industrial research environment
- Interact professionally and effectively with other team members
- Comply with all safety and infection control standards
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor or MS degree in Biological Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Biology or related fields required.
- Solid hands-on experience and technical knowledge with molecular biology, including but not limited to PCR, DNA purification, electrophoresis of DNA and proteins, restriction enzymes, and molecular cloning.
- Experience with mammalian cell culture and transfection is mandatory.
- Experience with flow cytrometry and fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS) is highly desired
- Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills in written and verbal English
- Familiar with Microsoft Office products
