What You Will Do

We are currently searching for a Research Analyst. The individual will be trained in cloud computing or computer science disciplines will be responsible for technical support for Rare Disease Alert System (RDAS). The role will work closely with the RDAS team on a daily base to perform specifically tasks, such as, assisting the rare disease collaborative network (RDCN) development, deploying the RDCN on neo4j test/prod instances, deploying the predictive model for rare disease specialist recommendation to RDAS test and production servers and leading the user testing. This is a full-time remote opportunity located in Rockville, MD.

  • Research and draft recommendations to improvise specific scientific and technical research methodologies based on academic best practices.
  • Research and draft recommendations to improve scientific, technical, and operational processes and workflows.
  • Engage stakeholders and gather feedback regarding scientific, technical, and operational outputs and outcomes and prepare summaries and recommendations for improvement.
  • Design and present variety of standardized scientific, technical, operational and performance summaries, reports, and dashboards.
  • Collect and evaluate researcher and staff inputs and ideas to improve operations and processes and prepare recommendations for upper management review.
  • Collaborate with staff on scientific and technical research needs and requirements relating to program planning, analysis, communications, and reporting functions.
  • Work with staff to analyze scientific, technical, programmatic, and administrative data to identify trends and accomplishments and to make budgetary and programmatic projections.
  • Develop analytical documents that synthesizes and presents results of data analyses and draws inferences, outlines options, and makes recommendations that bear on program activities and policies.
  • Produce scientific, technical, and operational graphics for use in internal and external communications, web.
  • Identify data gaps and inconsistencies and analyze data to identify reasons for differences and recommend solutions.
  • Produce publication quality, informative graphical representations of images from research studies.
  • Contribute to data quality control and analyze Annual Report System (ARS) data to develop reports and presentations.
  • Participate on publications team on the development and production of annual and quadrennial news publications.
  • Work with staff on researching and drafting technical reports, analyzing data from the studies and publishing research findings.
  • Provide recommendations for electronic databases, analytical tools, and statistical applications necessary to conduct complex scientific, technical and programmatic analyses.
  • Research, develop, review, and revise a variety of documents and reports related to Institute initiatives, programs, and research.
  • Research both computerized and non-computerized medical and public health literature in major national and international databases and academic journals.
  • Draft and circulate approval memos and track and incorporate suggested edits to initiatives and work with staff to meet timelines for publication.
  • Work with staff on researching and preparing scientific and technical briefings, presentations, and other reports in response to various requests.
  • Research and perform quality control programs using selected statistical methods for use in quality control analysis.
  • Work with staff to coordinate and develop responses to requests for information about the Institute's research activities.

What You Will Need

  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in lieu of Bachelor’s degree.
  • A minimum of ONE (1) year of experience with research analysis.
  • Experience with Python.
  • Previous experience with data analysis.

What Would Be Nice To Have

  • Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) Human Subjects Research preferred.

The annual salary range for this position is $57,300.00-$85,900.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
