Reporting to the Senior Director, OPOR, the Director, Deployment and Operations is directly responsible and accountable for the operational cutover of the OPOR Solution (the OPOR Solution includes the Oracle Health Clinical Information System (also known as Cerner Millenium), the Infor Healthcare Revenue Cycle Management application for patient billing, the Oracle Health HealtheLife patient portal solution and the Oracle Health HIE provider portal solution) and the ongoing operational sustainment of this solution. This includes business continuity and disaster recovery planning, testing and continuous improvement.

The Director, Deployment and Operations will develop the strategy and lead the logistical planning of each implementation (Go Live) including establishment of 24/7 command center/war room operations for Go Lives, logistical planning including dry runs of operational cutover, operating procedures for the OPOR team and sites leading up to and throughout implementation including support of the onsite ‘At The Elbow’ teams, and hypercare support processes.

The Director, Deployment and Operations will work with a diverse group of partners including OPOR and Oracle Health executive leadership, NSH and IWK Site Leads, Executive Directors, clinical teams, and IM/IT as well as our partners at the Province of Department of Health and Wellness and the Department of Cybersecurity and Digital Solutions (CSDS). The Director champions organizational change management strategies to ensure all staff at each Go Live site are engaged, prepared, and supported throughout this significant clinical and digital transformation.

The Director Deployment and Operations must have significant deployment and implementation experience in the healthcare setting. They must be well versed in cutover strategy development with many large-scale technical implementations, ideally of an Oracle Health/Cerner CIS system. They must have a strong understanding of not only the technical aspects of digital solutions and technology, their design, maintenance, and management, but also an intimate understanding for how they correlate to the support the delivery of organizational decision-making processes within a transformative environment.

The Director, Deployment and Operations must be available must be available during standard working hours of 8:30-4:30 AST.

Experience serving as a strategic advisor on IMIT matters to senior leadership

Relevant Skills And Experience

Bachelor’s degree in a Health Informatics, Information Technology/Computer Science or related field with significant leadership experience

• Minimum of 5 years’ mid-level IT or related management experience in health care specifically related to directing and overseeing a broad spectrum of Technology services and IT Strategy
• Extensive experience (5+ years) managing Clinical Information System implementations in a healthcare setting. Oracle Health/Cerner implementation experience preferred
• Master’s degree considered an asset
• Project Management Professional (PMP) designation required
• IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) and/or organizational change management certification considered an asset
• Deep understanding of Oracle Health (Cerner) workflows, modules and integration points
