We are seeking a detail-oriented Insurance Underwriter to join an established insurance company that provides personal property and casualty insurance, personal accident and supplemental health insurance, and life insurance to a diverse group of clients.
Responsibilities
Evaluate insurance applications, considering factors such as the applicant's financial status, medical history, occupation, and lifestyle, to determine the level of risk associated with providing coverage
Analyze policy documents, including proposals and renewal terms, to ensure accuracy and compliance with underwriting guidelines and regulations
Apply underwriting guidelines and standards to make informed decisions regarding coverage, premium rates, and terms
Communicate underwriting decisions, reasoning, and requirements clearly and effectively to insurance agents, brokers, and internal stakeholders
Provide excellent customer service by responding to inquiries, resolving issues, and offering guidance to insurance agents and policyholders
Qualifications
Proven experience as an insurance underwriter, insurance broker, or in insurance sales with exposure to property and casualty, life, health, or specialty lines
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge of insurance laws, regulations, and industry standards
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a deadline-driven environment
