Regional Systems Director

The Regional Systems Director (RSD) reports to the Regional Vice President (RVP) and is the strategic and senior IT person responsible for advising and consulting on technology services and best practices for operations, sales, and customer related matters. Part of this responsibility is to help field offices increase proficiency in their use of technology, and to help them stay current in both systems and core applications. Additionally, the RSD will work closely with the enterprise IT leaders to improve understanding of field issues related to technology deployment and utilization. Must have experience with customer interaction in a sales environment, supporting the goals of the region and of CorVel.

This is a remote role.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Supervise all regional systems activities and staff
  • Work closely with the enterprise IT operations groups to orchestrate the implementation of the IT strategy
  • Oversee implementation and operations of enterprise technologies in regional context
  • Participate as a member of the enterprise IT strategy leadership team and be involved in developing, communicating, and executing enterprise IT strategies
  • Function as senior advisor to the RVP on all technology matters
  • Assist with setting policy on IT matters, particularly where policy impacts field operations or customer concerns
  • Use business and technology experience to assist Sales and Operations functions in achieving their objectives
  • Participate in sales calls, customer calls, and implementation projects
  • Participate with process improvement projects designed to improve workflow and work processes in the region
  • Act as the senior IT advisor in support of field-based revenue generation and operational improvement activities
  • Identify methods and processes for improvement and provide feedback into the development and technology operations organizations
  • Additional projects and duties as assigned

Knowledge & Skills

  • Experience in a fast-paced technology driven business environment supporting and interacting with multiple platforms and senior levels of management is needed. Strong working knowledge of the workers compensation industry, or equivalent experience with claims processing, bill processing, or managed care environments is encouraged
  • A Strong working knowledge of enterprise technologies such as networks, windows (server and desktop) and other technologies that are in use in field operations
  • Strong trouble shooting/problem resolution skills
  • Strong documentation skills
  • Strong project management and implementation
  • Strong ability to interact with customers, often under negative circumstances, but have the ability to win them over and communicate technology issues in a business way
  • Utilize knowledge of the customer and operations environments to advise senior business leaders, sales organizations, and operations organizations
  • Ability to participate in complex problem-solving situations
  • Must have sufficient technical depth to communicate with development and other internal organizations at a peer level as well as convey technical concepts to non-technical individuals
  • Able to interpret the meaning of information for others; can translate or explain what information means and how it can be used
  • Able to identify information by categorizing, estimating, recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances or events

Education & Experience

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree with at least 10 years of field experience (experience can be used to substitute for the degree). Familiar with a variety of technology concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of IT leadership and business leadership tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. 4 year technical or business degree, or 8 years of equivalent work experience
  • Demonstrated technical competence with Microsoft Technologies, including messaging, collaboration, and database
  • Demonstrated business competence with CorVel core applications, which include, but are not limited to, MedCheck, CareMC, and Claimline. This is not a support position, but the role requires an ability to understand these applications and provide advice, feedback, and to help consult on workflow or customer implementation or operations issues when it comes to these products
  • Experience working as part of a project team performing major IT roll-outs, implementations and migrations, particularly in a virtual environment
  • Strong oral communication skills. Strong technical writing skills and the ability to effectively communicate with customer managers and executives on technical and business issues
  • Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills are necessary
  • Proven capability of collaboration with virtual teams and organizations that are outside of the formal reporting structure

Pay Range

CorVel uses a market based approach to pay and our salary ranges may vary depending on your location. Pay rates are established taking into account the following factors: federal, state, and local minimum wage requirements, the geographic location differential, job-related skills, experience, qualifications, internal employee equity, and market conditions. Our ranges may be modified at any time.

For leveled roles (I, II, III, Senior, Lead, etc.) new hires may be slotted into a different level, either up or down, based on assessment during interview process taking into consideration experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the role. The level may impact the salary range and these adjustments would be clarified during the offer process.

Pay Range: $79,704 – $132,692
