New Boston Marketing Group (B&B Food Brokers, Inc), an independent third generation family-owned New England Food Broker is seeking a Food Service Sales representative to support sales and marketing for food service distribution and operator accounts in the Connecticut and Western Massachusetts area. The sales rep will be responsible for development and growth within the existing business and finding new opportunities to increase sales volume for our portfolio of manufacturing clients.

Responsibilities:

·        Manages a geographical sales territory ensuring that independent and regional account business is developed, serviced and grown

·        Regularly calls on existing and potential customers

·        Develops and executes new business opportunities

·        Support sales efforts with distribution partners

·        Keep up on market conditions and competitive activity

·        Maintain a portfolio of priority and assigned accounts

·        Maintain sales support materials to include distributor stocking lists and sales materials

·        Responsibly manage samples and sample ordering process

·        Demonstrate products to prospects and customers

·        Troubleshoots and responds to product issues and complaints

·        Ability to problem solve quickly and creatively


Competencies:

To be successful in this position, the individual performing the duties must successfully demonstrate the following competencies:

·        Independent worker who can excel within a team environment

·        Ability to acquire and possess specific & detailed knowledge of manufacturers lines, products and services

·        Create and establish rapport with new prospects and sales associates

·        Be available for clients according to the specific needs of the food service industry

·        Use personal vehicle to visit customer accounts, conventions, company meetings and other business activities

·        Lift/carry samples, laptop, sales materials weighing up to 40 lbs., to and from office, home, car, and customer

locations.

·        Participate in trade shows, customer visits, and distributor sales events. Manage and participate in general sales, regional meetings and sales trainings

·        Participate in ongoing professional development effort


Qualifications:

·        Strong communication skills, both oral & written

·        Ability to manage time within a complex & changing schedule

·        Able to plan and organize activities to achieve company’s goals & objectives

·        Adept at building trust and credibility

·        Positive, professional and productive attitude

·        Critical thinking in problem solving

·        Ability to cook and prepare products according to manufacturer or corporate chef, for sales meetings and demonstrations to aid in the sales process

·        Previous foodservice experience, FOH management or BOH Culinary, preferred

·        Previous food sales experience, preferred

·        Must have a valid driver’s license

·        Requires daily travel within the sales territory and occasional overnight travel

·        Practical knowledge and/or willing to learn Microsoft 365 including Outlook, Word, Excel & Powerpoint


Compensation commensurate with experience

Area: Connecticut, Western Massachusetts and the surrounding New England area.
