Forestar is currently looking for a Region Vice President-FG. The right candidate is responsible for overseeing the development for basic goals and operating plans for assigned divisions. Assists each division with successful execution of their respective business plan to achieve desired profits and returns. Directs and coordinates the activities of each division to ensure the achievement of business objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Guide and support divisions to develop leaders within division teams to support the Regions business plans and goals
  • Travel to assigned divisions to establish relationships with each team and understand their respective markets and projects
  • Understand land and lot acquisition strategy within assigned division markets
  • Support business plan development of assigned divisions and oversee assigned divisions performance against business plans
  • Provide business input and review deal flow prior to Region President or COO review
  • Oversee the development of organizational plans for assigned division operations and associated functions. Review organizational plans in advance of Region President or Executive review
  • Provide counsel, guidance and coaching to assigned divisions; guide management staff in developing their personal management capabilities and professional skills. Assist them in personal development planning and appraise their progress
  • Attend operational meetings as required
  • Implement and maintain region procedures
  • Review operations and performance of assigned divisions.Takes corrective action as deemed necessary to achieve goals.
  • Help facilitate business review meetings of applicable divisions identifying areas requiring corrective action and assign responsibility and specific commitment dates
  • Recognize talent, recruit, retain and motivate a team across all functions to help assigned divisions run a successful operation
  • Monitor market, identify trends and help assigned divisions to react timely
  • Oversee tasks as assigned by the Region President or COO
  • Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
  • Ability to travel overnight

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervises 2 or more employees

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or equivalent, or ten to twelve years related experience
  • Must have a vehicle and a valid driver’s license
  • Basic accounting or finance knowledge
  • Possess a strong managerial and leadership background, providing a successful record of setting, establishing, and meeting goals
  • Possess exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to train, mentor and motivate
  • Demonstrate problem solving skills by using persistence and ability
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via FOR applications
  • Proficiency with MS Office and email
  • Ability to sit for majority of 8-hour workday; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision
  • The noise level is generally moderate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a leadership role involving operations, sales, and production preferred
  • Experience in land acquisition and residential lot development a plus
  • Ability to conduct and analyze product and market analysis. Strong understanding of sales, pricing strategies and cash flow preferred
