Recreation Assistant - Part-time

Summary:Chileda is looking for fun, energetic, highly-motivated individuals to work in our Recreation Department providing leisure and recreational programming suitable for the ages, abilities and interests of our students. The Recreation Assistant is responsible for facilitating campus-wide therapeutic and structured recreational programming during residential shifts, as well as assisting in planning and preparing for special events and daily activities.Status Info:This is a PT role that works primarily 2nd shift hours Monday through Thursday 1pm-9pm or 3pm-9pm with rotating weekends and holidays. On the weekends, we are looking for 1st and 2nd shift.Skills:Must be able to demonstrate behavioral skills and judgement in line with role modeling appropriate skills for students. Basic knowledge of Outlook, Word and Excel is required.Job Duties Include:

• Facilitate recreational activities in assigned areas guiding staff and teaching students independent leisure skills.
• Continually encourage and support students to achieve their recreational and leisure goals through appropriate, consistent, and patient prompting.
• Assist Recreational Manager in planning and preparing for special events and other rec programming
• Use a Trauma Informed Approach by communicating with and about students in a respectful, positive, and age-appropriate manner while consistently using a therapeutic tone even in high stress situations.
• Complete inventory of rec supplies when assigned.
  
  

Education Requirements:Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent.
