Read to Achieve Coordinating Teacher -- Remote | WFH

Position Purpose

We are looking for a dedicated Coordinating Teacher to support the North Carolina Read to Achieve Program. This role involves developing reading camp materials, training camp teachers, and liaising with various departments and schools. You will also help create and manage data collection processes for third-grade students and those attending the camps. Additionally, you'll support county-wide literacy initiatives at the elementary level and assist with implementing the NC English/Language Arts (ELA) curriculum.

Key Responsibilities

RTA Program Implementation: Coordinate the North Carolina Read to Achieve (RTA) Program, including the development of reading camp materials and the professional development of camp teachers.

Supplemental Tutoring Coordination: Manage the distribution of materials, new material acquisition, contracts, letters, and snacks for tutoring sessions.

Communication: Maintain clear communication with schools via RTA email, complete reporting requirements, and liaise with the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) and other stakeholders.

Camp Facilitation: Oversee the management of forms, paperwork, and curriculum revisions for RTA camps, and provide professional development for camp teachers.

District Literacy Support: Support district literacy initiatives through professional development, onsite visits, and coaching.

Professional Development: Design and deliver training to school-based staff and reading camp staff to support the RTA Program and bridge literacy instruction with mClass data.

mClass Support: Assist with mClass progress monitoring, assessments, and instruction in schools.

Project Management: Manage district literacy projects, including professional development, material ordering and distribution, and school visits.

Collaboration: Work with various departments and external agencies to enhance literacy support and professional development.

Teacher Capacity Building: Support teacher capacity in K-2 foundational skills.

Other Duties: Perform other related tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree in elementary education from a regionally accredited institution.

Three years of experience as an elementary teacher.

Experience in designing and delivering professional development to adult learners.

Training and experience in literacy practices at the elementary level.

Skills & Abilities

Extensive knowledge of instructional literacy practices and the RTA Program.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and cloud-based environments like Google Apps.

Strong problem-solving skills, flexibility, and reflective thinking.

Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to convey information effectively.

Project management skills, from planning to completion.

Ability to work collaboratively and establish effective relationships with diverse stakeholders.

Certification

North Carolina Professional Educator's License in elementary education (or eligibility to obtain one).

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Literacy/Reading education or certification in literacy.

Experience as a literacy coach, Instructional Resource Teacher, RTA Camp Teacher, or third-grade teacher.

Familiarity with Read to Achieve Camp, RTA law, and mClass.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements

This role primarily operates in a classroom environment, requiring regular use of office equipment such as computers, scanners, and copiers.

Occasional direct contact with school staff, students, parents, external funding agencies, and the community.

Light physical work, with the need to exert up to ten pounds.
