Radiology Scheduler Full Time

Position Goal

To obtain necessary information from physicians and patients to schedule Imaging tests and procedures.

Position Responsibilities

  • Receives calls from physicians and patients to schedule a date for Imaging test(s) or procedure(s).
  • Obtains demographic and insurance information from the provider’s office.
  • Coordinates with OR scheduler, if procedures require full sedation
  • Assigns each scheduled procedure an account number, ensures precertification/ authorizations has been completed, and check for ABN.
  • Assist with opening and blocking Imaging schedule in the Medhost.
  • Resolve and answer patient concerns and questions on walk-in and scheduled appointments.
  • Makes sure all authorizations have been obtained for all radiology appointments.
  • Courteously answers telephone calls. Routes calls or takes accurate messages as is appropriate.
  • Promptly returns voice mail messages from patients and providers.
  • Promptly responds to emails regarding patient scheduling from providers.
  • Assists patient in understanding his/her insurance benefits.
  • Responsible for updating Medhost with the most up to date patient contact information
  • Financial counsels patients on their financial responsibility for scheduled procedures.
  • Pull patient charts for the next day scheduled procedures.
  • Pulls next day schedules to ensure all scheduled imaging patients have a patient number and precertification has been obtained
  • Obtain precertification’s on scheduled imaging patients as needed
  • Pre-register patients prior to appointments

Experience: Past work experience in a position of meeting and communicating with the public preferred. For entry into this position, previous experience in a medical office is necessary. Must have working knowledge of tests, procedures, terminology in addition to insurance knowledge. Imaging scheduling experience preferred.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Special Qualifications: Ability to use Microsoft Office and other software packages. Excellent typing skills and phone etiquette. Must have excellent verbal communication and customer service skills. Certified Patient Accounts Representative (CPAR) or Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) preferred.
