The R&D Food Technologist is responsible for applying food science knowledge and principles to new and existing products in the dietary supplement industry.
Reports to:
R&D Manager
Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain a clean, organized R&D lab. Practices cGMPs and proper food handling procedures.
Formulate and flavor dietary supplement samples to send to customers and revise formulas based on customer feedback. Samples include protein powders, amino acids, preworkouts, hydration, and thermogenic formulas.
Document all customer sample formulas.
Collect and analyze ingredient information to ensure compliance to customer product requirements.
Organoleptic evaluation of raw materials for quality and production feasibility.
Organoleptic evaluation of production batches.
Work with Production and Operations to troubleshoot product formulas.
Test incoming flavors for use in production.
Assist with R&D projects as assigned by R&D Manager.
Qualifications and Abilities:
Minimum BS Food Science or related field
Excellent communication skills
Takes initiative, critical thinker, not afraid to ask questions
MS Office
Physical Demands:
Able to lift up to 25 lbs.
Able to use step stool
Must be able to consume caffeine and other stimulants in small amounts
