Base pay range
Russell Tobin is working with a leading specialty manufacturer in the South Bend area to bring on an experienced Quality Manager! This is a permanent/direct hire role with a salary in the $110k-$130k range.
As a Quality Manager, you will oversee the Quality Control team and manage the Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure the delivery of high-quality products in a timely manner. This role is pivotal in maintaining site quality standards, handling customer complaints, and collaborating with the production team on quality-related issues.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety and Standards:
- Implement and oversee safety protocols within the Quality Department.
- Set and enforce quality standards to ensure products meet specifications and are statistically controlled.
Quality Assurance:
- Ensure timely and efficient provision of all data and testing required for products.
- Collaborate with Production to resolve quality issues and enhance productivity.
Research & Development Liaison:
- Coordinate with R&D to ensure new formulations are compatible with production capabilities.
- Address formulation problems that cannot be resolved through production improvements.
Data Management:
- Supervise the accuracy and timely entry of manufacturing data into the computer system.
- Review and ensure the accuracy of SMC quality and yield analysis.
Continuous Improvement:
- Manage the site's first-generation scrap program (Yellow Tag) and implement corrective actions or process improvements.
- Maintain the integrity of Certificate of Analysis documentation for customers.
- Oversee the Customer Complaint and CAPA (Corrective Action / Preventative Action) program.
- Manage the ISO 9001:2015 certification program and oversee internal and external audits.
Operational Efficiency:
- Develop programs to prevent manufacturing errors leading to off-grade SMC or prototype products.
- Ensure proper maintenance of lab equipment in coordination with R&D and Maintenance staff.
- Keep the Plant Manager informed of any issues hindering goal achievement.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Engineering.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of quality experience in chemicals, adhesives, or related technologies.
- At least 5 years of experience managing a quality control laboratory.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 standards.
Skills:
- Proficiency in ERP systems.
- Strong knowledge and application of statistical methods (SPC, MiniTab, etc.).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project).
Travel: Occasional travel required.
