Quality Manager

Summary: The Quality Manager is responsible for the development, maintenance, and improvement of the Company Quality System, for positively influencing the quality of parts and services provided to Customers, and for helping improve internal operations related to quality.

MANAGEMENT:

  • Provides positive leadership for Quality Engineer, Lab and Testing Technician, Document Control Coordinator and Quality Auditors and their training, motivation, professional development, and performance.
  • Manages the plant laboratory and the equipment, processes, and procedures necessary for product inspection and testing.
  • Builds an environment centered around continuous improvement, resulting in productivity gains.
  • Plant resource for successful new product launches, ensuring clear specifications, process capability, and attainment of customer satisfaction.
  • Manage the Quality Management System procedures and related documents to maintain ISO-9001 customer standards.
  • Reports quality metrics and reports.


QUALITY PROCEDURES & SYSTEMS:

  • Management Representative for the company quality system.
  • Maintains product conformance to specifications throughout product cycle: incoming, in-process, and finished product inspection.
  • Develop and maintain inspection procedures and utilize statistical process control to analyze and determine the effectiveness of these processes and procedures.
  • Provide for audits of manufacturing facilities to assess compliance to national standards for sanitation, product safety, and quality systems while meeting external requirements of customers and regulatory agencies.
  • Oversee PPAP documentation for new projects.
  • Organize and facilitate the APQP process for new projects.
  • Document, analyze, and initiate corrective actions for internal quality concerns as well as customer reported issue.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, employees, or customers.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and understand a wide array of technical journals, testing standards, test results, charts, diagrams, forms, manuals, and regulatory or legal documents.
  • Spanish language skills a plus.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Membership in ASQ, SPE, and/or other professional societies desired.
  • Knowledge of PPAP, APQP, Gage R&R, SPC and FEMA.
  • Strong knowledge of injection molding and plastics technology.
  • Detail oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to respond quickly to problems and work with a team to effect solutions, sense of urgency.
  • Excellent computer skills to include Microsoft Office, ERP Systems, Visio or comparable software, PowerPoint, email, and Quality Management software.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five (5) years experience in quality management
  • Experience in ISO 9001
  • Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.
  • Six Sigma certification a plus
  • Experience in Statistical Process Control
  • Strong training experience
  • Materials and product testing experience


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer or Certified Quality Manager desired.
