QUALITY ENGINEER IN MUSKEGON, MI

Job Function:

The Quality Engineer reports directly to the Technical Manager. The Quality Engineer is responsible for programming, operating, and training team members on quality related measurement equipment. The Quality Engineer will support the quality team and production to assure all current and future products manufactured by the organization meet customer specifications and achieve superior quality and reliability levels.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform gauge R&R and programming on various measurement equipment, including CMM, Keyence, and load/torque testers, ensuring accurate measurements and data collection.
  • Precision Measurement & Programming: Utilize and program state-of-the-art measurement equipment including CMM, Keyence, and load/torque testers to ensure accurate data collection and measurement reliability.
  • Process Optimization: Develop and validate programming studies for both new and existing products, streamlining measurement processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Innovative Design: Design and implement gauges and fixtures for measurement equipment, ensuring precise and repeatable measurements across all product lines.
  • Process Development: Contribute to new product process development and create PFMEA to identify and mitigate potential failure modes.
  • Quality Control Planning: Develop comprehensive control plans based on print requirements and PFMEA outcomes, establishing robust guidelines for quality assurance.
  • Collaborative Documentation: Support PPAP documentation for new part launches and engineering changes, ensuring compliance with customer and industry standards.
  • Training & Support: Train production personnel on work instructions and provide ongoing support to uphold quality standards and procedures.
  • Proactive Problem-Solving: Address quality issues through root cause analysis using tools like 5Y, 8D, and fishbone diagrams, driving resolutions to enhance product quality.
  • Global Collaboration: Interface with customers, suppliers, and internal teams globally to facilitate effective communication and collaboration on quality-related matters.
  • Teamwork & Improvement: Foster strong working relationships with cross-functional teams, driving continuous improvement in quality and processes.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering - Required
  • IATF 16949 Experience: Proficiency in IATF 16949 standards is essential for this role, ensuring adherence to industry-leading automotive quality management systems.

Desired skills:

  • Advanced GD&T knowledge. Real-world knowledge and experience for programming measurement equipment such as CMM and vision systems. Data analysis tools such as Minitab. DOE knowledge, preferred.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with the customer base and internally, both verbal and written. Computer skills in windows environment required.
