Quality Control Technician - Manufacturing

HOURS: Monday through Thursday, 5am to 3:00pm (20 min paid lunch), OT on Friday as needed.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE: This position is responsible for assisting the Warranty Manager in the management of a Quality In-process and Final Inspection/Testing program. Hands-on professional with proven track record of success in planning, executing, and monitoring a broad range of quality assurance/quality control projects and continuous process improvement. Will lead the internal rework investigation and documentation in the internal quality system.

This employee will provide technical and functional support to the Operations team relating to product quality and continuous improvement with internal process controls, equipment need support, and tooling development while adhering to Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost metrics.

  • Interpret engineering drawings, schematic diagrams or formulas and collaborate with all levels of the organization to determine quality and reliability standards.
  • Follow, update and develop quality check sheets to document quality related items. Publish results, actions and approved deviation with appropriate teams.
  • As requested, participate in the Strategic Warranty Analysis Team (SWAT) process and update management team on the details and status of quality related tasks assignments. When appropriate document findings into CAPA (Warranty) database.
  • Apply quality tools and troubleshooting strategies to determine and resolve quality issues
  • Implement process improvement initiatives, including defining, implementing, and monitoring measurement systems to ensure product and process capability and directing continuous improvement activities.
  • Analyze and monitor manufacturing processes, implementing continuous process improvement strategies to increase productivity, reduce downtime, and cut costs
  • Conduct on-site Audits to include final acceptance inspections, testing validation and in-process inspections to standard operating procedures
  • Work with internal staff, to train and develop the team’s skills, and work with external customers and suppliers to analyze quality issues and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, updates, of appropriate metrics to meet all assigned goals.
  • Assist in establishing a communication processes/channels and flow between Henderson and the customer, to establish a primary point of contact for complete customer interface as needed.
  • Assist in the oversight and integration of Quality to the project management function, ensuring that correct information is entered into all CAPAs and ECR’s submitted to ensure preventive actions are implemented.
  • Excellent communication and team work skills with internal and external customers or suppliers.
  • Provide information on quality tools and methodologies to all levels of the organization.
  • Within assigned areas, select products to test at specified stages in the production process; test products for quality indicators such as dimensions, performance, and mechanical, electrical or chemical characteristics.
  • Adhere to, update and create Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to document quality procedures as needed.

What This Role Needs

Communication Skills: Comfortable interacting with peers, supervisors, and upper managers. May be required to present topics in group setting.

Computer Skills: Basic ability to navigate windows and MS Office. Proficiency using Excel/CAD/CMM programs is a plus.

Education: Proven working knowledge of quality systems. Knowledge of MIG welding and fabrication processes. Lean & GD&T knowledge and statistical process control fundamentals are a plus.

Experience: Five years’ experience in Quality Control/Quality Assurance experience; 3 years QC/QA experience in welding industry is a plus.

Internal Qualifications: Ability to develop and execute program implementation through project level tools and techniques. Experience in creating/enhancing Quality Program. Positive Attitude and Solution oriented.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Compute rates, ratios, and percentages and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability: Proven mechanical aptitude. Self-directed and confident in making decisions. Detailed and action-oriented with a sense of urgency. Disciplined, flexible, and motivated while with an ability to manage multiple priorities. Strong Change Management, leadership and partnering skills

Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret engineering prints and specifications. Experience with fixture design, machine tools, and various fabrication equipment.

Work Environment: Fast-paced factory environment. Ear plugs, safety glasses, and steel toe shoes required. Exposure to welding fumes and loud noises.
