As a Quality Control Lead at Reily Foods Company, you will need to possess a strong foundation in quality, have a keen eye for detail, exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, proficiency in quality assurance methodologies, effective team leadership abilities, and the capacity to collaborate seamlessly with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement and uphold the highest standards of product excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the Lead Lab Technician in a fast-paced food manufacturing lab
  • Leads department huddles, ensures communication and resolution of actions, and escalates as necessary
  • Initiates Supplier Corrective Action Reports (SCAR) and follow up
  • Handles customer complaints, analyzes trends and develops action plans
  • Creates certificate of analysis (COA)
  • Performs sensory analysis on in process and finished product at point of production
  • Maintains, calibrates, and troubleshoots analytical equipment
  • Works closely with Production and Maintenance teams to assist in troubleshooting process upsets
  • Performs all quality checks, understands product specifications, and completes relevant testing in all major Production Areas (Tea, Coffee, Seasoning) as well as retains and bulk
  • Utilizes Digital Production System (Redzone) to complete quality compliance documents, launches ad hoc data sheets and communicates with support functions
  • Understands all food safety and legal requirements related to the entire New Orleans facility
  • Participates and takes the lead in all Audits (BRC, Rainforest, etc.) and ensures all requirements are met on an ongoing basis; performs internal plant audits
  • Uses Root Cause Problem Solving to identify factors that cause defects or quality deviations in the manufacturing process
  • Leads Multi Cause Analysis (MCA) in their area, communicates findings of MCA to Leadership and ensures all actions are addressed and closed out; trains peers on Root Cause Methods and MCA process
  • Leads Loss Analysis initiatives, recommends solutions, and ensures that solutions to reduce loss are implemented
  • Owns a Safety system in their area and maintains a system rating of seven or above
  • Monitors and ensures production checks are completed in all areas
  • Follows all safety procedures and participates in safety training; maintains safe and efficient use of equipment, tools, and person; reports any injury or accident immediately to supervisory and/or any unsafe condition
  • Supports and complies with GMP’s; understands and follows emergency action plan
  • Supports food safety, quality and legality
  • Ensures the operation is providing food-safe, quality products which meet or exceed all product specifications and regulatory requirements
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • AA / BS Degree preferred
  • 3+ years of Quality experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to proactively lead change within the department and process
  • Strong training and facilitation skills with ability to effectively present information in a clear manner, demonstrate procedures and respond to questions
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to take on new projects within a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment while managing priorities
  • Resourceful and effective decision maker with strategic problem solving and strong analytical skills
  • Good knowledge of the latest statistical tools and techniques
  • Solid communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work effectively with leadership and cross-functionally
  • Proficient in MS Office; must be able to create detailed reports
  • Knowledge of manufacturing software such as Redzone highly desired
  • Good financial acumen
  • Willingness to work alternate hours/days as required by production schedule
