Quality Control Lab Manager

BASIC FUNCTION:

Manage all aspects of the plant quality system. Ensure product quality through established testing procedures. Support the plant in the development of new products and use of new processes. Manage the plant QSHE system.

Ensure that the Plant operation is in full compliance with all applicable quality requirements. Maintain a safe and healthful work environment by identifying and anticipating concerns and potential hazards, and developing and enforcing appropriate precautionary systems, policies, and procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage all laboratory tests in accordance with established procedures.
• Develop new testing procedures as needed.
• Maintain and calibrate testing equipment and ensure that adequate inventories of lab supplies are available on site, purchase equipment, and supplies as needed.
• Use PC and statistical analysis programs to record all test results. Interpret statistical data for trending and report results to the appropriate manager.
• Use statistical quality control tools to support production, shipping, customers and marketing with data leading to quality improvements.
• Support the plant in the development of new products and processes.
• Manage, obtain and receive product samples and process chemicals for testing and evaluation.
• Manage, test and expedite all Customer Sample Order Requests.
• Manage the customer complaint system. Investigate all customer complaints, visiting customers as needed.
• Coordinate resolution of customer issues between customers, Customer Service Department, and Plant.
• Manage all plant ISO Quality System efforts, develop procedures for all Lab test methods and test equipment calibration methods.
• Audit all facility departments for QSHE System compliance.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or Biology. Experience in managing a laboratory.

Knowledgeable in statistics and QSHE management systems. Excellent computer skills are required. Excellent communication skills are required both verbal and written. Five years of experience in laboratory environment.
