About this opportunity 

Align Technology is looking for a Quality Control Chemist for our San Jose, CA location.  The Quality Control Chemist is responsible for QC laboratory analysis of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products.

 

The Quality Control Chemist must be organized and methodical in their approach as well as an excellent communicator with a proven track record of operating laboratories instrumentation/equipment, quality control documentations and data analysis.

In this role, you will… 

  • Conduct most types of physical and chemical analyses according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and other regulations/guidelines.
  • Execute test methods and documentations related to raw material, in-process, finished products and stability testing.
  • Assist in developing SOPs
  • Interpret and analyze data
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in data that do not conform to SOPs
  • Consult with, and provide advice to management, regarding data
  • Operate the following laboratories instrumentation/equipment, but not limited to:
  • Analytical balances
  • HPLC
  • GPC
  • UV-Vis Spectrophotometer
  • pH meter
  • Karl Fischer water titrator
  • UV-Vis Spectrophotometer
  • Maintain a neat laboratory notebook, author/review COAs and stability reports.
  • Work with different types of chemical solvents and ensure a safe work environment.
  • Manage assigned task to accommodate project timelines/priority.
  • Work with various cross functional teams to understand and implement requirements in the workflow.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment and meet critical deadlines. Other job duties may be assigned as needed by the associated projects.

In this role, you’ll need … 

  • B.S. or M.S. in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Materials Science, or related field.
  • Candidates with industrial experiences in GLP or ISO laboratory preferred.
  • Advanced theoretical knowledge of analytical characterization techniques as well as practical, hands-on experience is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong technical, analytical, and trouble shooting skills.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in analytical chemist or related position. If you have the above experience but not the amount of years please do apply as well.  We are willing to consider someone with less years of experience.
