Team Leader, Outpatient Coding Compliance

Summary of Responsibilities: This position provides team lead duties and QA support to employees and clients.

LexiCode is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is $30.00-$41.00 an hour. Specific compensation for the role will vary within this range based on factors such as experience, credential, demonstration of skill and knowledge, or geographic location.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

Team Lead Duties estimated at 75% of time

  • Manage and coordinate Quality Assurance (QA) workload distribution among QA Analysts to ensure appropriate QA coverage for each for SLA and Prebill on a daily basis.
  • Responsible for monitoring assigned coder and client’s quality scores using audit reports. Recommend coder corrective action plans as necessary based on these audit results.
  • Responsible for reviewing coders on 100% QA for domestic and offshore teams, then recommending the next QA steps for the coder (approve reduced QA, start on quality PIP, etc.), in partnership with Employee Manager(s) and Account Manager(s).
  • Manage client quality SLA’s for internal and external stakeholders in partnership with AMs and Ops Directors.
  • Coordinate education and training for coders with the Directors,AMs and the Education Team.
  • Review QA PCS reporting for appropriate entries each Monday.
  • Assist QA Director in creating client QA deliverables (monthly reports/monthly QA letters).
  • Maintaining all users and projects in the LAD audit tool each month.
  • Onboard new QA and acclimate to systems and client documentation.
  • Conduct Peer Reviews on QA Analysts and report results to Coding Compliance and Education Director.
  • Answer coding and QA questions via email as requested.
  • Knowledgeable and responsive to Clients and AMs as needed regarding QA for their accounts and/or employees.
  • Report issues/concerns with QA to the Coding Compliance and Education Director.
  • Other tasks duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QA/Compliance estimated at 25%of time

  • Analyze ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT and/or HCPCS codes in accordance with LexiCode negotiated engagements for nationwide healthcare providers who are remote clients of LexiCode. These code assignments are based on the employee’s interpretation of patient documentation, furnished by the Client. The employee’s interpretation is made in accordance and with regards to official CMS approved (AHA and AMA) coding guidelines and under the supervision of the Remote Services Management.
  • Auditing is accomplished in a prompt and reasonable timeframe in accordance with productivity and accuracy standards found in the Employee Handbook or designated based on specific engagement requirements.
  • Demonstrate senior level coding skills and knowledge.
  • Update skill and knowledge levels in accordance with CMS approved (AHA and AMA) coding changes.
  • Complies with confidentiality standards, including HIPAA privacy regulations, found in the Employee Handbook.

Required Experience

The employee must have at least 3 years of experience of auditing and coding the record type they are assigned to work on.

Educational Requirements

Completion of a Health Information bachelors’ or associates’ degree program with RHIA or RHIT credential are highly preferred and desired. Other scholastic accomplishments of a healthcare nature will be

considered.

Required Licenses And Certificates

Employees must maintain a coding or health information credential appropriate for their work assignment. RHIA, RHIT or CCS credentials are highly preferred and desired. Other credentials of a healthcare nature may be considered.
