Proficiency in software testing methodologies, tools, and techniques.
Knowledge of programming languages such as Java, Python, or C#.
Familiarity with testing frameworks like Selenium, Appium, or JUnit.
Understanding of various types of testing, including functional, regression, performance, and user acceptance testing.
Experience with test automation and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices.
Ability to create clear and concise test cases and test plans.
Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
Critical thinking skills to anticipate potential issues.
Preferred certifications include ISTQB (International Software Testing Qualifications Board) certifications such as ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL) and ISTQB Certified Tester Advanced Level (CTAL), as well as Certified Agile Tester (CAT) certification. Various vendor-specific testing certifications offered by companies like Microsoft, HP, and Oracle are also beneficial.
Entry-level positions may require some internship or project experience in software testing.
Mid-level and senior positions typically require several years of experience in software testing roles, with a proven track record of successful projects.
Familiarity with specific domains such as web applications, mobile applications, or embedded systems may be required based on industry requirements.
Knowledge of bug tracking and test management tools like JIRA, HP Quality Center, or TestRail is advantageous.
