Purchasing Manager

SUMMARY

As a Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the procurement process within the organization. Your primary goal will be to ensure the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services while maintaining high standards of quality. You will collaborate with various departments to understand their procurement needs, negotiate with suppliers, and develop strategies to optimize the purchasing process.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Perform and manage day-to-day execution of the purchasing function.

· Develop purchasing strategies, partner with suppliers, negotiate discounts.

· Analyze market and delivery conditions to advise business managers of procurement strategies.

· Perform product/process analysis for cost reduction, departmental quality improvement, and improved efficiency.

· Perform supplier risk assessments.

· Assist and participate in cross-functional teams for problem solving, root cause analysis and corrective actions.

· Enhance procurement process and system robustness by proposing, implementing, and standardizing best practices.

· Promote knowledge sharing within LISI Aerospace group including lessons learned, best practice, and other benchmarking.

· Respond to contract administration audits and implement changes as appropriate based on audit recommendations.

· Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within Purchasing.

· Relies on knowledge, experience and judgment based on procurement practices to plan and accomplish goals.

· Understand, monitor, and follow applicable law, policies, and procedures in accordance with company purchasing policy.

· Participates on cross Procurement Operation teams when requested to coordinate the day-to-day or strategic demands, needs and requirements of the business for materials, goods and services.

· Develops and agrees with suppliers on specific performance commitments.

· Recommends appropriate metrics for assigned commodities to drive supplier and commodity specific performance goals.

· Works collaboratively as a business partner with all other departments, locations, management to address opportunities and mange supplier relationships.

· Responsible for complying with the rules and regulations set forth by Federal, Local, and State government, LISI Aerospace, and HSE Procedures.

· Responsible for attending all training provided and for adhering to all HSE procedures, policies, and plans, conforming to reporting requirements and safe operating procedures at all times.

· Required to bring any known or suspected nonconformance for all company procedures or legal requirements to management’s attention immediately.

· Continually seeks opportunities to improve our HSE performance by establishing objectives and targets, measuring progress, and reporting our results.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position leads a staff of three – one Purchasing Agent, and two Senior Buyers.

May assist in the technical coaching of trainees &/or other Team Members.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Education and/or Experience

· B.S. Degree in Business or related field.

· Minimum of five (5) years of Procurement/Purchasing experience is required in a fast paced manufacturing environment

· Or equivalent combination of education and experience in a manufacturing environment

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of the following application software: Database; Internet; Inventory; Manufacturing; Spreadsheet and Word Processing.

Safety and Environmental

The responsibilities of the position include compliance with company and governmental safety, environmental and hazardous materials regulations and procedures. Employee will be required to wear personal safety equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection, or proper footwear PPE in specified areas.

  • Ensure compliance with HSE procedures, instructions, guidelines and golden rules
  • Ensure that the HSE procedures and instructions of his/her department are always adapted and updated
  • Ensure the acquisition and maintenance of HSE skills of its employees in relation to the tasks performed by its teams
  • Ensure that the equipment under his/her responsibility is in good condition and operates safely. If this is not the case, he/she will ensure that protective measures are taken and/or that the equipment is consigned
  • Identify and deal with HSE risk situations during the appropriate PSM
  • Manage emergency situations with the help of the fist aiders and first response team members
  • Relay and lead HSE communication within his/her teams
  • Ensure that the necessary resources are available to guarantee the preservation of the health and safety of the people in his/her department
  • Ensure that the necessary resources are made available to guarantee the limitation of the environmental impact of his/her department
  • Within his/her scope, implement actions to achieve the site's HSE objectives
