CPS Recruitment is seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Purchasing Manager to lead procurement operations for food products and related supplies. This pivotal role involves vendor collaboration, contract negotiations, and ensuring timely delivery of goods while optimizing inventory levels. The ideal candidate will excel in strategic planning, cost analysis, supplier relationship management, and maintaining adherence to regulatory standards in the food industry. This position is located in Syracuse, NY and can be worked remotely or on a hybrid schedule.

Previous experience in food distribution is an absolute must have!

Essential Functions:

• Develop and execute sourcing strategies, conduct supplier negotiations, and manage supplier relationships.
• Implement process improvements and performance metrics to enhance purchasing efficiency.
• Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and market dynamics.
• Conduct strategic category analysis to meet company goals and effectively communicate these goals to the purchasing team.
• Assist Buyers in negotiating competitive offerings and maintaining high quality and service levels.
• Manage day-to-day supplier relations and identify growth opportunities.
• Possess comprehensive knowledge of the entire product portfolio, including food items, packaging, and pricing.
• Understand commodity selling and market dynamics across retail, foodservice, and discount segments.
• Communicate product features, benefits, and specifications effectively.
• Streamline business processes and provide insights on industry trends and best practices.
• Assist in inventory control and project management of sourcing activities.
• Track and report on inventory levels, consumption patterns, and demand forecasts.
• Implement inventory management systems to streamline procurement and minimize costs.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, or related field preferred.
• 10+ years of procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management experience, MUST be in food distribution!
• 5+ years of management experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Outlook.
• Strong communication and business development skills.
