The City of Verona is currently recruiting for a Public Works Director. The Public Works Director is responsible for planning, supervising, and coordinating the activities of the Public Works Department subject to the general direction of the Public Works, Sewer and Water Committee and the City Administrator. The position involves administrative responsibility for water, sewer, and storm water utilities, the maintenance and construction of sanitary and storm sewers, water utility infrastructure, street and highway maintenance and construction, snow and ice removal, refuse and recycling collection, and public parking lot construction and maintenance. The Director of Public Works supervises the Assistant Director of Public Works, Streets Superintendent, Utility Billing Clerk, and Construction Supervisor.
$111,897.95 - $139,019.83 Annually plus an excellent benefit package including participation in the Wisconsin Retirement System.
Candidates may be subject to a comprehensive criminal background check prior to appointment of this position.

Required Education And Experience
- A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in public works management or a closely related field, including supervisory experience is required.
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, public administration, business administration or a related field is preferred.
- A master’s degree and/or Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
- Experience in construction engineering, project management, or related position within construction is preferred.
- Possession of Water Works Operator Grade 1 (Groundwater and Distribution) is preferred.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
