Position Summary
Provides safety and protective services as well as a wide range of customer service duties for all persons on hospital premises. Acts to protect hospital property from loss due to fire, theft or vandalism. Patrols all areas of hospital campus, provides visible presence to deter criminal or inappropriate behavior, logs daily shift reports and prepare incident reports as necessary. Responds to all requests for escorts or assistance from patients, staff and visitors. Must be able to perform assigned security duties independently in a timely, professional and courteous manner at all times while promoting a positive image of Windham Hospital. Ability to secure control in confrontational situations, direct parties and restore order in a tactful manner.
Qualifications
EXPERIENCE: One to two years of security, law enforcement, military, criminal justice system, emergency medical services or other public safety experience required.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: Registered with the CT Department of Public Safety Division of State Police Special Licensing and Firearms Unit within 30 days of employment. Valid Connecticut driver’s license with clean record.
QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent. Successfully completed an 8-hour Security Certification course within 30 days of employment followed by registered with the CT Department of Public Safety Division of State Police Special Licensing and Firearms Unit. Able to write and communicate in English. Knowledge of Spanish is a plus. Must meet experience levels as described above . Strong communication and customer service skills. Ability to walk or remain standing for lengthy periods of time, and assist clinical staff with lifting of heavy patients
