The Syracuse Crunch are seeking a Public Relations & Social Media Coordinator to assist with the team’s marketing and digital media. This position will assist with public relations activities, including media relations, and social media management. This is a full-time position and will be required to work nights and weekends, including all home and away games.
The applicant will work under the direction of the Vice President of Communications & Digital Media.
Responsibilities
Write press releases and feature stories
Perform game day media tasks including preparing the press box and assisting with postgame media interviews
Assist in the continual upkeep and design of the team’s official website
Assist with set-up and follow through of player appearances
Brainstorm content for the team's official social media accounts including Meta properties (Facebook, Instagram), X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok
Execute social media strategy
Track and report social media engagement numbers throughout the season
Work closely with sponsorship to meet partner obligations on social media
Create and identify media opportunities to maximize local and national exposure for the organization
Assist in researching and compiling statistical information on the American Hockey League and Syracuse Crunch
Provide excellent customer service to the Crunch fan base and general public
Work all home and away games, including preseason, regular season and playoffs, and events as necessary to assist with cutting highlights, sharing score updates, posting photos and writing game stories
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
At least one year of professional experience in social media management or marketing
Proficient in social media platforms such as Meta properties (Facebook, Instagram), X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok
Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop is a plus
Strong creative, organizational and interpersonal skills
Understanding of the rules of ice hockey; experience in sports preferred, but not necessary
Travel for game coverage when necessary
Ability to work independently while also collaborating in a team dynamic
Available to work flexible hours including holidays, evenings and weekends. Position is required to work all home and away games
