The Public Relations Manager is responsible for developing and executing all aspects of public relations campaigns, delivering exceptional results and fostering positive relationships with the media on behalf of our clients.


The ideal candidate will be comfortable developing and executing strategic public relations campaigns for a diverse client base. Additionally, we are seeking a dynamic professional who is results-driven, assertive, and tenacious, with a proven track record of achieving high-profile media coverage in a variety of mediums. They will utilize all the agency's resources while pitching and creating high-quality public relations deliverables.

Additionally, staying on top of news cycles, creating and maintaining media relationships, and actively participating in cross-functional collaboration are key functions of a Public Relations Manager.


Candidates must be located within the St. Louis area and will be required to work from the St. Louis office and attend in-person meetings periodically based on client and team needs.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Strategize, execute, and meticulously refine tailored public relations campaigns to accomplish client objectives
  • Lead client meetings and provide public relations consultation to drive initiatives, spread awareness, and establish clients as thought leaders in their respective industry
  • Develop and implement crisis communications strategies specific to clients’ organizations and industries
  • Produce high-profile media hits in a range of mediums, including TV, radio, podcast, traditional print media, and more
  • Create and regularly update robust, research-based media lists for a range of industries, identifying key contacts and outlets to meet specific campaign goals
  • Engage regularly with local and national media to foster positive ongoing relationships on behalf of our clients
  • Schedule and coordinate media interviews for clients
  • Provide media training and interview preparation for clients as needed
  • Develop robust reports with key metrics and compilation of media hits
  • Write clearly and concisely on a range of complex, research-based topics
  • Write copy and create content for a variety of industries, audiences, and platforms (i.e. press releases, pitch letters, media alerts, op-eds, blog pieces, etc.)
  • Handle all forms of account management and organization for public relations clients, including client and internal communications
  • Contribute to the growth of the agency by actively participating in business development efforts, which involve upselling and cross-selling to existing clients
  • Provide support with team recruitment and oversee the training of new Public Relations Strategists, as needed
  • Maintain a deep understanding of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in public relations in order to provide thought leadership and drive innovation


Qualifications:

  • 7+ years’ experience working in public relations or adjacent role
  • A strong sense of accountability and a proactive mindset in owning and delivering on assigned responsibilities is essential for success in this role
  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, mass communications, marketing, or a related field
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful public relations campaigns
  • Advanced knowledge of public relations and marketing principles, including an understanding of crisis communications, media relations, social media, email marketing, search engine marketing, advertising, and content marketing
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to lead client meetings effectively and speak directly to the media
  • Ability to identify problems and solve them quickly and efficiently
  • Upbeat, team-oriented attitude toward team members and clients with a desire to work in a collaborative and inclusive team environment
  • Familiarity with media relations software such as MuckRack, Cision, or Meltwater
  • Familiarity with acting as a public relations consultant/specialist/coordinator, or history of serving in an executive public relations leadership position or owning a business
