We create unique messaging and execute strategic media relations programs that blend traditionally separate practice areas to offer clients a holistic approach to both consumer and business storytelling. Derris is looking for an Account Executive who will be responsible for managing the day-to-day tactical execution on accounts while also learning strategic planning across a variety of clients. The ideal candidate will have experience working across industries and be comfortable working with account teams with several team members. Further, we are looking for candidates passionate about contributing to company culture.

Location: This role is based in our New York, NY office on a hybrid basis. The Derris staff is in-office 3 days per week.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as day-to-day tactical lead for clients, including both internal and external client calls and meetings
  • Lead pitching efforts across broadcast, print and online
  • Cultivate and maintain strong media relationships
  • Draft media and client-facing materials, including pitches, talking points, prep docs and press releases
  • Adhere to deadlines through effective time management
  • Learn and strengthen management skills through oversight of junior team members
  • Communicate effectively across accounts, both internally and externally
  • Provide client counsel on the best influencer strategy based on goals and a strong business case for their particular brand
  • Develop and execute influencer paid and organic campaigns from strategic and creative development, identification of creators, outreach and relationship management, negotiations and contracts, content approvals and measurement

Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years of public relations experience; agency experience preferred
  • Proven track record of media relations experience and client relationship development
  • Ability to think through communication strategies and deliver tangible results with a strong sense of tactical execution
  • Comfort with writing stylistically and shifting writing styles based on client deliverables & internal meetings
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Capability to work independently and in a dynamic, high energy, team-oriented atmosphere
  • Self-starter mentality with the drive to initiate project ownership
  • Able to exhibit professionalism with clients and internal staff at all times
  • Comfortable working across industries

Compensation: Derris offers competitive, industry rate salaries with the goal of retaining and growing talented individuals. We regularly review and adjust our compensation structure as needed to ensure equity across teams and levels.

The salary range for this role is $60,000-$70,000, commensurate with experience.

Employees are eligible for employee referral bonuses, annual merit increases and commission for any referrals that lead to formal client partnerships.
