The facility manager is the on-shift supervisor and is responsible for ensuring the safe operation of the Sonnentag Center. The facility supervisor will direct all part-time staff on-shift, provide customer service, enforce policies, and coordinate emergency response.
This position will work on-site at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire’s Sonnentag Center, a major athletic, recreation, and event center, set to open summer of 2024. The new Sonnentag Center will serve as a venue for university and community events, concerts, and home to Eau Claire Men’s and Women’s Athletics.
Essential Responsibilities
Provide on-shift supervision of and feedback to part-time staff on job performance and assign work
Perform routine facility rounds throughout shift for supervision of student staff, troubleshooting and maintaining cleanliness of the equipment and facility
Assist with set-ups and breakdowns for all facility reservations and events
Respond to all medical and non-medical emergencies and provide care; initiate emergency action plan, notify university and local authorities and complete reports
Assist part-time staff with tasks and assume responsibilities of an area if not staffed; process sales as needed
Communicate and consistently enforce policies with patrons and staff
Provide excellent customer service, facility tours, and resolve guest concerns
Report injuries, incidents, member and guest issues maintenance issues, and staff issues
Prepare facility areas for programs and events
Restock consumable supplies and amenities as needed
Education And Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent
Previous work experience preferred
Experience working in fitness center, retail or events preferred
Current CPR, First Aid, AED certification or ability to obtain

Walking or working in fitness center 95% of the work day
Must be able to traverse throughout the building and campus. Regularly ascending/descending building levels and occasionally ladders or stools.
Must be able to lift, move and set up items weighing as much as 50 lbs.
Must be able to demonstrate proper exercise form, set up and adjust fitness equipment.
Must be able to discuss, converse with, and exchange accurate information with arena patrons, staff, stakeholders, etc.
